St Nicholas Church
Guisborough
Mothers' Union is an international Christian membership charity that aims to demonstrate the Christian faith in action through the transformation of communities worldwide.
We are working with people of all faiths and none in 83 countries to promote stable marriage, family life and the protection of children through praying, enabling and campaigning.
Our aims and objectives are:
-
To promote and support married life
-
To encourage parents in their role to develop the faith of their children
-
To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and
-
To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the service protection of children
-
To help those whose family life has met with adversity
Our vision
Our vision is of a world where God’s love is shown through loving, respectful and flourishing relationships. This is not a vague hope, but a goal we actively pursue by praying, campaigning and enabling.
Our values
Mothers 'Union is a Christian mission organisation working with people of all faiths and none. Mothers’ Union is firmly rooted in a voluntary ethos centred on mutual respect and collaboration. Our governance, leadership and programmes are undertaken and driven by members within their own communities worldwide.
Our membership
Our members are not all mothers or even all women. They are single, married, parents, grandparents, or young adults just beginning to express their social conscience. Mothers' Union provides, for all four million members, a network
through which they can serve Christ in their own community - through prayer, financial support and actively working at the grassroots level in programmes that meet local needs.
Mothers' Union in Guisborough
Nicholas Church branch was founded in 1903. We meet monthly, except in August, for fellowship, informative talks, fun activities, mutual support for each other and members worldwide, and, of course, for prayer. Members take part in the wave of prayer that goes around the world every day as members stop and pray in the middle of the day for the work of Mothers’ Union and international issues. These daily prayers follow an annual pattern which means that every Mothers’ Union region is prayed for at least once during the year. We also hold fund-raising events to support the work of the Mothers' Union both at home and overseas.
Meetings are usually held in the Parish Hall, Bow Street, Guisborough, TS14 6BP at 1.30 p.m. on the first Monday of the month, unless this is a Bank Holiday.
Visitors are always welcome at our meetings. We look forward to meeting people and telling
them about the wonderful work members undertake throughout the world.
